Limited Edition Zombie Carnival Prints

I love prints! I now have four color Zombie Carnival prints on 100% recycled paper using soy based ink. I used Pinball Printing to create the prints. I had seen several examples of their prints online and was impressed by how many talented creatives utilized their services. Their pricing is competitive and they were very helpful guiding me through their process. I am sure I will be using them again.

SPACE Alternative Comics & Press Convention, Columbus OH

Our Michigan CCS (college for creative studies) tribe took over most of a long wall of tables at this modest sized convention. We met lots of great folks and I was impressed by the level of quality shown by the other exhibitors. Most of the work was nicely packaged with many people using print shops and on-demand online printing services. I would have liked to see more hand crafted work including silk screening, original sketch work and even alternative crafts.

At my table I offered my new Zombie Carnival prints and standees. Additionally I sold Zombie Field Guides and Fat Camp Sketchbooks. I went through nearly all of my mini-Moo cards and will be getting more of them shortly.

Zombie standees arrive in a pack of thick cards – each with it’s own zombie and stand to cut out, play with and display. Each set of cards includes six zombies, including one zombie cat and one zombie dog as well as one running girl who is not (yet) a zombie. The standees look great terrorizing a toy shelf or hanging around a window ledge or work desk.

This year I managed to make the time to create an illustration for the Draw Sucka Draw Zombie exercise. This began as sketches in my moleskin sketchbook. The final image was created in illustrator. I plan to clean it up a bit and possibly add a few more details.

PoGo in Tokyo, with toys

These images were taken in Tokyo Japan. The images on the left were taken in Kiddyland and on the right in Loft. These drawings were started on airplanes but were finished in Cat's Cradle during XXMerge. My favorite part is the small Tofu head creature in the lower left corner.

The PoGos were taken in Tokyo Japan. Since I was drawing in airports and on planes I wasn't always in the mood. Most of this was plenty of fun but there were a number of times I opened the book and just stared at the page.

PoGo in Nikko Japan Part Two

These images are also of Nikko Japan. These were drawn over several days. The sketches on the left were done in NY and NJ while the sketches on the right were done in NC. The Tofu head creatures were the most fun. Allowing them to defy gravity and twist, climb, and sit in any direction made this more interesting than the previous pages.

Images taken in Nikko Japan a few months ago. Nikko is a very reasonable train ride from Tokyo. If you want a place to relax... this is it. I skipped a few pages in the Moleskin to draw around images I was in the mood for at the time.

PoGo meets MOMA

PoGos created from the MOMA over New Years weekend. I get in free at the MOMA but I still purchase a membership each year.

I had a persistent headache when I drew these images and I think somehow that influenced the trippiness.

PoGo Moleskin continued

Mixing together a sketchbook and photos makes sketching in public easier. I can just draw small pieces at a time. It avoids for the most part the moments when you know the drawing you are working on just isn't working and you hope no one notices.

The game shown is Tigris and Euphrates.

Both this post and the previous post were drawn in airports and on airplanes. I am breaking the iphone video habit and trying to utilize the time better.

PoGo Madness

This is the first page of my PoGo Moleskin book. The PoGo is a (fantastically named) portable printer made by Polaroid. PoGO = Polaroid to Go. The printer is inkless... using (the brilliantly named) Zink technology. Zink = Zero Ink. The printer uses heat to create images on perfectly sized mini pages with sticker backing.

The game played is Tigris and Euphrates.

This is an original ink drawing digitally colored. It was created as a birthday gift for a friend. He and I both love the work of Adrian Tomine so I thought I would create something in a similar technique. This was a little risky since this was my first time doing something in this style and it was to be a gift! Now, one year later, it is hanging in my friend's place.
